Two UCYP students have been awarded as the recipients of The Adaptive ICON award for UCYP ICON 2020. The winner announcement was uploaded in the official UCYP Instagram account, ucyp.malaysia.<\/p>\n

The announcement undoubtedly ended the buzzing anticipation of 48 finalists whose contending against each other in 11 categories.<\/p>\n

According to the UCYP Vice President Branding & Corporate Communication, Puan Suhaila Haji Mukhtar, the program was the first reality program to be held online by UCYP and was organized with the cooperation from the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Development & Alumni) Office, by using the Instagram as the main platform.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe program was a part of UCYP’s initiative to promote the ten (10) UCYP student values \u200b\u200bintroduced by the university and has served as an activity for students during the Movement Control Order (MCO), which restricts the university from organizing any form of physical activities. The ten (10) UCYP students introduced were Adaptive, Ambitious, Alert, Anticipatory, Admirable, Attentive, Agile, Advance, Astute and Articulative. The program received 71 nominations, with 48 candidates for 9 main categories and 2 side categories.<\/p>\n

The program was held for eight (8) days, commencing on the May 8th<\/sup> until May 15th<\/sup>, with a total more than 10,000 likes received for all categories.<\/p>\n

UCYP Vice Chancellor, Professor Emeritus Dato\u2019, Dr Ahmad Bin Hj. Zainuddin believes that the program promises great potential to be extended to the regional level and will therefore be organized again as early as next year.<\/p>\n

Apart from that, the Vice President (Branding & Corporate Communication) also stated that parts of the categories were evaluated through online polls, which were monitored by the Chief Digital Office, whilst for the main category which is Adaptive ICON, two candidates were shortlisted and subsequently evaluated by appointed panels based on a set guidelines and prior set characteristics.<\/p>\n

Mahendran A\/L Shilowaras and Liyana Nur Hazirah Binti Mohd Noor Azman were selected by the panel as the recipients for The Adaptive ICON 2020 award. The selection was based on several factors, including academic achievements, personality, and contributions made to the university that are worthy to be set as an example for other students to emulate.<\/p>\n

According to Mahendran, a student from the Faculty of Science & Technology, he is elated by The Adaptive ICON <\/em>award presented to him by the university.<\/em> At the same time, he also expresses his gratitude to those who had voted for him in the Articulative <\/em>category.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am delighted, but truth be told it is not easy, for being an UCYP ICON warrants a huge responsibility to be shouldered. It is my hope that UCYP will continue to advance and to be upgraded to a full university that is also renowned internationally,\u201d he further added.<\/p>\n

Liyana Nur Hazirah binti Mohd Noor Azman, a student from the Faculty of Human Development who has also been awarded with The Adaptive ICON award, echoes her fellow award recipient sentiments and reiterated how the award is a trust and a high appreciation towards her.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very proud to be one of UCYPians <\/em>and it is my greatest wish for UCYP to be a full, prestigious university,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Winners from each category walks away with cash reward, plaque<\/em>, and certificate of appreciation.<\/p>\n
