Prize giving award for Jom Cerita Contest was held at Level 3, UCYP Tanjung Lumpur with a simple yet meaningful setting. This contest was participated by 22 people that consists of 14 staff and 8 students. The event was attended physically by 20 guests while 100 UCYP students attended via online.<\/p>\n

The idea of the Jom Cerita Contest was initiated by the Vice Counselor UCYP, Professor Emeritus Dato\u2019 Dr. Ahmad Haji Zainuddin in order to reveal the potentials among UCYP talents in writing short essays or creating short videos on the current issue \u2013 COVID-19 Pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe whole world is confronting a serious pandemic that requires Malaysian government to enforce Movement Control Order (MCO) since 18 March 2020. The pandemic has \u00a0affected all sectors in Malaysia including educational instutions. Having that in mind, UCYP has taken different measures in order to adapt to the new norms, giving emphasized on the teaching and learning process.<\/p>\n

Jom Cerita Contest is a very significant program that not only documented our experiences in dealing with COVID-19 but also a great way to filled time with beneficial activity. The contest has started from 13 May until 9 June and there were two (2) categories offered : Student and Staff. Apart from that, UCYP Creative Award was introduced to encourage more talents\u00a0 among UCYPians.<\/p>\n

The winners for UCYP Creative Awards are Shafawati Atikah binti Shapiee (Staff Category)\u00a0 from Faculty of Human Development and Nur Arina Binti Azman (Student Category) also from the Faculty of Human Development.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was so surprised when being announced as the UCYP Creative Award recipient for my short essay –\u00a0 Kepulangan yang dinanti, kerinduan yang terubat<\/em>. \u00a0It was about my father and my family true experiences,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the winner for the student\u2019s category, Nur Arina Hazirah Binti Azman also did not expect that her story was chosen when she was announced as the winner.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlhamdullilah, thank you to \u00a0Prof. Emeritus Dato\u2019 Dr. Ahmad and also the jury. The story that I wrote was more casual and relaxed. I shared my experiences on how I dealt with MCO as a student, a daughter and an elder sister,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The UCYP Creative Award recipients brought home RM200 cash prizes and certificates. In addition to that, all participants also received RM100 each and certificates. \u00a0The cash prizes was contributed by the Vice Counselor UCYP, Professor Emeritus Dato\u2019 Dr. Ahmad bin Haji Zainuddin.
