On 23 and 24 August 2022, the University College of Yayasan Pahang (UCYP) through the Faculty of Human Development, organized the 2nd International Conference on Education (ICEd) 2022. With over 200 participants from both local and foreign backgrounds, this conference received a very positive reaction. Taking up the theme “Adaptive Education: Empowering Quality Education Through Teaching and Learning,” the conference’s discussion and dialogues covered research findings on challenges and obstacles, particularly in pedagogical areas, as well as technological development and innovation in the educational sector.<\/p>\n

Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr Ahmad Bin Haji Zainuddin, the Vice-Chancellor of UCYP, attended the conference, as did Professor Ts. Dr. Zaidatun Bt. Tasir, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia; Professor John Adamson Ed.D, from the University of Niigata Prefecture in Japan; Associate Professor Dr. Mastura Badzis from the International Islamic University Malaysia; Dr. Annamai Damnet of Thailand’s Kasetsart University; Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Hafizan binti Mat Som of UCYP Malaysia, Universitas Teuku Umar Aceh Indonesia’s Assistant Professor Dr. Firman Parlindungan, and UCYP’s top management, employees, and students were present. Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr Ahmad Bin Haji Zainuddin, Vice-Chancellor of UCYP, expressed his delight at the participation of various Asian countries, including Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, and Brunei, in the 2nd International Education Conference organized by the Faculty of Human Development, UCYP, during his opening speech. He further added that the theme of this session was significant with the concept and tagline brought by UCYP, namely the Adaptive University. Its tagline and concept were deemed to be in line with both national and international policies and agendas. As we all know, the Covid-19 epidemic that has ravaged the planet since 2020 has had serious consequences not just for the economy but also for education.<\/p>\n

Countries in Asia, particularly Malaysia, have begun to adapt and execute a new strategy to leading the area of education, particularly in the process of teaching and learning. This has indirectly opened up new dimensions and opportunities in the country’s education sector, with the invention of fresh ideas and more contemporary and comprehensive teaching methodologies in keeping with current trends. The outcomes of this educational system’s innovation and progress have awakened many people’s minds to the significance of digital education. This year’s iCEd conference included 27 papers, each of which presented different ideas and techniques for dealing with the digital learning era.<\/p>\n

This conference, hopefully, will bring fresh ideas, widen perspectives, and open minds in attempts to address the current challenges. Although the Covid-19 epidemic has taken less attention, the advancement of innovation and technology still necessitates the introduction of new breath, particularly in the field of education.<\/p>\n
