The Festival of Lights or best known as Deepavali is a celebration of new beginnings and the triumph of good over the evil and light over the darkness. Deepavali falls between October and November every year. This year, it falls on 6th<\/sup> November 2018.\u00a0 To celebrate, houses are decorated with\u00a0candles and colourful lights\u00a0and huge firework displays are held while families feast and share gifts.<\/p>\n

Malaysia is a multi-racial country which makes Deepavali a celebration not only welcomed by the Indian community but is also celebrated by all races, including the Malays and Chinese as a sign of goodwill and unity. Similarly, UCYP is not exceptional for this festival. The festival was held on 17th<\/sup> November 2018 as the Deepavali lasts five days in total. The festival is regarded as the closing to Deepavali 2018. The event is an effort of the UCYP Indian Student Club in collaboration with KYP Advanced Skills\u2019 Indian Student Club in order to commemorate the celebration for the students of UCYP especially the Indians.<\/p>\n

Taking place at Sri Manja Boutique Hotel, Kuantan, the Deepavali Festival started at 8.30 in the evening with the arrivals of UCYP students, UCYP\u2019s staff and the VVIPs. Among the guests present are YH Dato\u2019 Sri Haji Ahmad Johari Bin Haji Hussain, The Chairman of Human Resource, Youth, Sports & Non-Governmental Organization of Pahang State, YH Dato\u2019 Norhishamuddin Bin Yaacob, Managing Director of KYP And Deputy General Manager Of UCYP, YBhg En Wan Emril Wan Embong, The President of Majlis Belia Negeri Pahang, YBhg En Kumalesan, The Chairman of Kelab Belia Tamil Pahang As Well As YBhg En Rajeswaren, The Chairman of Majlis Belia India Pahang. The festival started with an opening performance of Indian Cultural Dance and welcoming remarks by UCYP\u2019s Managing Director, YH Dato\u2019 Norhishamuddin bin Yaacob.<\/p>\n

The event is carried on with a speech from YH Dato\u2019 Sri Haji Ahmad Johari followed by the inauguration of the festival. There are also performances from both UCYP and KYP Advanced Skills students. More than 200 people were there to celebrate the festival. The event is a huge success for the Indian Students Club as it received compliments from the audience. There are also traditional games held during the event which filled the festival with varieties of activities. The festival lasted until 10.30 that evening.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\t\t\t<\/div> \n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div> \n<\/div><\/div>\n\t\t
