The 5th International Conference on Islam and Higher Education (ICIHE) was successfully organised by University College of Yayasan Pahang (UCYP) and Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP), Padang Indonesia. The two-day event (19th and 20th February 2019) gathered reputable speakers and presenters from ASEAN countries namely Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. Officiated by the Rector of Universitas Negeri Padang, Prof Ganefri PhD. and welcoming remarks from the Vice Chancellor of University College of Yayasan Pahang, Prof. Emeritus Dato\u2019 Dr. Ahmad Bin Hj. Zainuddin, the international conference reflected the role of the higher learning institutions towards the global issues on Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0).<\/p>\n

The conference lines significant objectives that are to create a better awareness and understanding among Muslims on the importance of Islamic values in higher education system towards the development of future\u00a0Ummah,\u00a0 to create better understanding on Islamic approach and solution to face the various current and future challenging of digital society\u00a0 and to\u00a0create better understanding on humanizing IR 4.0 along with Islamic values. The other objectives are to\u00a0harness the great potentials of Islamic Higher Education for future development of digital generation, to\u00a0formulate an\u00a0Ummatic\u00a0approach to the preparation and development of current and future Muslim generation and to\u00a0help strengthen the identity of the Muslim\u00a0Ummah\u00a0through the empowerment of the Islamic lifestyle.<\/p>\n

In addition, the 5th ICIHE was specifically meant for all participants to explore and discuss the different topics especially on Islam and Higher Education that was indicated by the theme – Humanising the 4th Industrial Revolution through Islamic Approach in Higher Education Sy<\/em><\/strong>s<\/em><\/strong>tem<\/em><\/strong>. Meanwhile, the sub-themes highlighted in the conference underlined the issues on The Development of Society 5.0<\/em>, Teaching and Learning for Young Generation<\/em>, Islamic Value for Future Culture<\/em>, Islamic Practice on IR4.0<\/em> and Contemporary Issues of Islamic Education<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The first day of the conference commenced with an opening speech from Prof Ganefri PhD., Rector of Universitas Negeri Padang and followed by a welcoming speech from Prof. Emeritus Dato\u2019 Dr. Ahmad Bin Haji Zainuddin, Vice Chancellor of University College of Yayasan Pahang. Besides, as the chairman of the 5th<\/sup> ICIHE, \u00a0Dr. Azhar Bin Jaafar@Ramli delivered his chairman address.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is very important that a product taught in a classroom to have a high value for human good. The papers presented in this conference offers fundamental concepts on how future education would be better, especially with the disruption of the millennial era\u201d, said Prof. Emeritus Dato\u2019 Dr. Ahmad Bin Haji Zainuddin.<\/p>\n

The Plenary Session I were presented by Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dzulkifli bin Abdul Razak<\/em>, the rector of International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Prof. Dr Fuady Anwar<\/em> M.Ag. from Universitas Negeri Padang, meanwhile the Plenary Session II was delivered by Associate <\/em>Prof. Dr. Sukree Langputeh<\/em>, the Deputy Rector of International Relations and Alumni, Fatoni University, Thailand. The second day of the conference (Plenary Session II) presented another keynote speaker – Prof. Dr. Syaiful Anwar<\/em>, M.Pd. the Vice President of Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Raden Intan Lampung, Indonesia.<\/p>\n

The ICIHE recognizes intellectual and research activities contributed by all of the presenters in the 5th conference via awards presentations. The Best Presenter Award<\/em> was given to Hafifuddin Harisah, from Universitas Islam Makassar, Indonesia while Nurul Nazlia Jamil from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) was presented with The <\/em>Best Young Researcher Award<\/em> and The <\/em>Best Paper Award <\/em>was won by Iffatin Nur, from Institut Agama Islam Negeri Tulungagung, Indonesia.<\/p>\n

Congratulations to all secretariat from UCYP especially, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Industry Linkages and Research Development Office (ILRD) and the International Office (IO) of UNP.\u00a0 May the 5th International Conference on Islam and Higher Education (ICIHE) organised by UCYP and UNP contribute towards the better future and the better growth of education in the region.<\/p>\n
